$6,000.00

Ink on Paper

Signed Lower Right

A leader in experimental ink painting, Pan Ying was born in Beijing in 1962.
Her father is the famous oil painter, Pan Shixun, while her mother is the Chinese
traditional ink painter, Jiang Caping. Growing up in a family of artists was very
important in her maturity as an artist; it allowed her the rare position to be
exposed to both Western and Chinese painting method. Ying attended
the Art Institute of the People's Liberation Army and majored in Chinese traditional ink
painting, from where she graduated in 1983. She received her Ph.D. in 2006 from the
Central University for Nationalities, where she is currently an associate professor and
graduate advisor.
